We are one of the newest sponsors of GirlBoss NZ, a network of 17,500 young women leading change in their communities.
We have partnered with them for their annual GirlBoss Edge Sustainability Programme, which runs each year in the April school holidays. This is a 10-day online school holiday programme for around 500 young women aged 15-21 across Aotearoa, who are passionate about sustainability, decarbonisation, electrification, and all things STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
As part of the programme, we sponsor the GirlBoss Edge Challenge. This is New Zealand’s largest nationwide initiative, designed to inspire and equip young women to explore careers in the energy sector.
The 2026 intake saw a record-breaking 508 young women register from throughout the country! We’re proud to be supporting the next generation of women exploring careers in energy.
2026 GirlBoss winners
- Isabel, whose concept for silent vortex wind turbines reimagines how we generate energy - producing power without noise, blades, or impact on farmland and wildlife
- Amber, who explored how to expand clean energy without competing with food production, proposing a community-owned agrivoltaics network designed for Otago - combining solar generation with active farmland
- Esther, who focused on building community resilience through a network of Energy Resilience Hubs powered by solar and battery storage - supporting communities both day-to-day and during extreme weather events.
