We’ve teamed up with Octopus Energy to look at a new way to balance our electricity network during peak demand periods. If you have a home battery or a vehicle-to-grid set up and are an Octopus customer, you could earn additional credits on top of your normal export credits.
We are investigating alternative ways to support growing demand and electrification in Queenstown and Wānaka/Upper Clutha aside from building new infrastructure like power lines, poles and underground cables. Not only will this harness the potential of new technologies, but it also helps save money on line charges for everyone. If the trial is successful, it could be rolled out to other areas on our network where there are emerging capacity constraints.
