When will work happen?

This stage of work began mid-2025 and is due to be completed by mid-2026.

What work has been completed so far?

In 2021, we completed the first stage of this work, replacing an ageing line with new high voltage lines and steel poles along the Waipori Line between Berwick and Outram (photos below).

Power outages and traffic management

There will be some power outages and traffic management required during the final part of this stage of the project, as we begin to stand the new power poles and will be using a helicopter to string the new power lines in after they are installed. Customers will receive the official ‘planned power outage notification’ from their electricity retailer (who they pay their bill to). This will give finalised details of planned outages for their specific property. Traffic Management Control (TMC) will also do letter box drops for any customers who are going to be impacted.
