Steve Thompson | Non-executive Chair
Steve Thompson (BCom, FCA(PP), CFInstD) joined the Aurora Energy Board in June 2016 and was appointed Chair in December 2016. He was previously a Tax Partner and Office Managing Partner with Deloitte in Dunedin and retired from the partnership in May 2015. He continues to provide corporate and taxation advice to a number of public and private entities. Steve previously held the role of chair of electricity distribution network company Alpine Energy and its electricity contracting subsidiary NETcon and has been the director of a number of New Zealand companies involved in the energy, construction, investment, manufacturing and professional services sectors. Steve is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Chartered Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

Simon Clarke | Non-executive Director
Simon Clarke (LLB/BA) joined the Aurora Energy Board on 1 July 2021. He is a professional director and has a number of other governance roles including Chair of Priority One (Western BOP Economic Development Agency), Chair of Bay Venues Limited (Tauranga City’s largest CCO) and a Non-Executive Director of NZ Post. Prior to his governance career, Simon had a number of senior executive roles in the utilities and digital infrastructure sectors. Simon is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton Business School) and a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors.

Wendie Harvey | Non-executive Director
Wendie Harvey (LLB) joined the Aurora Energy Board in November 2018. She is a professional director whose governance appointments reflect her interests in strategy development, organisation change, infrastructure management and the promotion of health and safety in the workplace. Wendie is currently a Director of Napier Port, Hawkes Bay Airport, Port Taranaki, Unison Networks, TAB NZ and the Eastern Institute of Technology. Following an extensive legal career specialising in employment law and human resource management, Wendie brings a wealth of experience as a lawyer, executive manager and business consultant.

Stephen Lewis | Non-executive Director
Stephen Lewis joined the Aurora Energy Board on 1 July 2021. He is a company director and business consultant with over 45 years’ experience in the electricity supply industry. Current directorships include MainPower NZ Ltd, Electricity Invercargill Ltd. Stephenhas previously held executive directorships, senior executive and operational roles in the electricity supply industry in the UK, US, and South America. In New Zealand he has previously been held directorships at Mt Cass Wind Farm Ltd and Greenpower NZ Ltd and governance positions in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors across a wide range of sectors including the arts. Stephen is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and a Member of the Institute of Asset Management.

Janice Fredric | Non-executive Director
Janice Fredric (BCom, CA, MBA(Dist), CFIstD) joined the Aurora Energy Board on 1 July 2022. She is a professional director with over 20 years governance experience across commercial, public, and not-for-profit sectors. Her current governance appointments include Chair of the Civil Aviation Authority and Aviation Security Service, Director of the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, Mainpower NZ Limited, Mt Cass Windfarm, Green Power New Zealand, Ministerial Appointee to the Lincoln University Council, and independent member of the Timaru District Council Audit and Risk Committee. Janice is a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors and a Chartered Accountant.
