Update 8 – Storm Update Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes, as at 12:00h

The remote location and inaccessible terrain is hampering work to replace a downed power pole and overhead lines damaged by tree fall.

All power has been restored to affected customers in Makarora.

While the network has been restored following the storm, there may be individual customers experiencing problems with their power. Please call Aurora Energy on 0800 22 00 05 and we will follow up.

Aurora Energy would like to thank our customers for their patience the past few days and a massive thanks to our contractors for their outstanding work under trying conditions.

This is the final update for the storm event.

Keep safe:

• Always keep well clear of fallen power lines or damaged electrical equipment and treat them as live at all times
• Watch out for falling tree branches as these can cause damage to power lines
• Avoid possible damage to electrical appliances when power is restored by switching off appliances at the wall
