25 May 2015Dunedin Power Outages - 25 May 2015, 0900h
The current status of power outages on the Aurora Energy network in Dunedin following lightning storm and wind overnight is:
- Power is out to Gresham, Rawhiti and Cavell Streets in Musselburgh and is expected to be restored in the next two hours once emergency generators have been installed. The cause was lightning damage to transformers.
- Power is out from Weir Road to Taiaroa Head on the Otago Peninsula and is expected to be restored in the next 3-4 hours as soon crews can safely repair the damaged line. The cause was severe wind downing an overhead line.
- Power has been restored to most consumers in the Port Chalmers area after power lines were downed.

Queenstown And Central Otago Power Outages - 25 May 2015, 0900h
There are widespread power outages on the Aurora Energy network in Queenstown and Central Otago as heavy snow continues to fall causing damage to overhead power lines.
There are currently power outages affecting consumers in Rae’s Junction, Ladies’ Mile (Lake Hayes Estate), Queensberry and parts of Wanaka.
Delta crews are responding to faults and are making repairs as soon as is safely possible. Please report faults to your electricity retailer via their faults number. Delta General Manager Asset Management Derek Todd says that severe weather conditions continue and consumers should be prepared in the event of further power outages. Always keep well clear of fallen power lines and treat all electricity lines and equipment as live at all times.
