21 January 2015This outage is to enable the safe removal of a tree that has fallen across high-voltage power lines supplying the Green Island substation.
The fallen tree is located in the forest between Abbots Hill Road and the Southern Reservoir. To enable the safe clearance of the tree, power will need to be redirected from the Green Island substation to adjacent substations.

From 9:00am today (Wednesday 21 January), groups of Green Island electricity consumers will experience a short interruption to their power supply (typically 30 to 60 seconds) to enable removal of the tree. Once the tree has been removed and the high voltage cable made safe, there will be a second short interruption to the power supply (typically 30 to 60 seconds), expected to occur later in the day.

Apart from the two brief interruptions, we expect power supply to be on as usual. The affected suburbs are Abbotsford, Burnside, Concord, Fairfield, Green Island, Ocean View and Waldronville.
