Aurora Energy set to Undertake Dunedin Waterfront Improvement Project

Aurora Energy is improving the view along the Dunedin Waterfront with a project to underground 18 poles along the West Harbour walkway currently underway.

Aurora Energy General Manager Work Programming and Delivery, Mark Pratt, said the project to underground the power cables will see the removal of 18 poles along the shared pathway.

“The undergrounding will not only improve the view along the pristine stretch of coastline, but it will also improve the reliability of electricity to the Ravensdown processing plant,” Mr Pratt said.

“We have been working with a number of stakeholders to carry out early remediation work to prepare for the poles to be removed and the cables undergrounded.”

Mr Pratt said the next step of the project is to remove the poles which will require a short closure of the shared pathway.

“Closing the walkway is the only safe way to complete this project and we apologise to users for the inconvenience” Mr Pratt said.

“A shuttle service will be operating every half hour from 8.30am until 4.00pm from Monday to Friday, with pick-up points on either side of the walkway.

The shared walkway along the Dunedin Waterfront from the University Rowing Club to the Harbour Rugby Club will be closed between 8:30am and 4:00pm from Monday 9th September to Friday 13th September.

Shuttles every half hour (30 minutes) e.g. 9:00am/9:30am/10:00am

Last shuttle: 3:30pm Monday to Friday

First shuttle: 8:45am Monday to Friday
